The Team

Tony Cox is considered to be one of South Africa's finest musical exports. Blessed with an enviable array of guitar skills this multiple award-winning guitarist is just as affable and friendly off-stage as he is on. Along with his six-string prowess, Cox delivers up a mix of his laconic humour with a fair dose of story-telling; taking any listener on an aural journey that is at once new and simply unforgettable. Born in Zimbabwe, Cox began to seriously hone his own musical style when his family moved to South Africa in the late 60's. Here the young guitarist absorbed a wide array of influences not only from home but from all over the globe. His wide and eclectic approach sees him today as one of the worlds’ uniquely gifted guitar players and composers with an infectious flair for rhythm, serious afro-groove and soundscapes that stretch away to African horizons. Cox has won three South African music awards in the best instrumental category.
