The Team

Founder & Director Tanya Blacher grew up in the north of England in a large and lively family, and went to university in Oxford where she got a science degree in 1995, after which she spent fifteen years in London working in TV and digital media. She moved from London to Cape Town in 2013 with her husband and two children, and quickly fell in love with South Africa, its people and its music. Even its challenges inspire her. Tanya says "Setting up the Ingoma Choir has probably been the best thing I have ever done in my life". She is now studying for another degree in Psychology & Sociology. Six members of the choir form the elected executive team, who help manage the choir. They are currently: Sanele Krishe, Chair; Anele Mnatemel, Secretary; Nomthandazo Sithole, transport; Luthando Stokwe & Siphosethu Tyekana, team liasons. Sanele is also on the board of directors alongside entrepeneur Jaco Delport and asset manager Tanya Micali, both Hout Bay residents and Ingoma fans!
